When life gives you bubbles, make ‘elephant toothpaste’

10:00am-2:00pm on Saturday 22 March

Times shown are in GMT (UTC +0) up to the 26th March. For events on or after 27th March times are in BST (UTC +1).

Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, Philippa Fawcett Drive, CB3 0AS

Using simple ingredients like soap, food colouring, warm water, and baking yeast, we’ll whip up a special mix that will dazzle everyone watching, while introducing the audience to catalysis and chemical reactions.
This popular experiment is not only fun but a great way to learn about chemistry. It is perfect for curious kids and parents alike, showing how chemical reactions work while making a colourful splash. Come for the fun foam and stay to discover the science that helps us understand reactions and catalysis – and help keep our ‘elephant’ smiling bright!

Please note that this activity does not last four hours and you can come in anytime between 10 am - 2 pm. Also, the capacity number indicated refers to the amount of total visitors we are able to take in for this activity throughout that four-hour time frame.
However, if you came in at a time when there are a lot of people involved in the activity, we may need to pause entry temporarily if we reach maximum room capacity.
