VIRTUAL TOUR: BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE MAA STORES MOVE

6:00pm-7:00pm on Monday 4 April
6:00pm-7:00pm on Wednesday 6 April

Times shown are in GMT (UTC +0) up to the 26th March. For events on or after 27th March times are in BST (UTC +1).

Take a peek behind the doors of the MAA Stores Move, a once-in-a-generation project moving over 250,000 objects from our off-site collections to a brand new facility, the Centre of Material Culture.

In this two-part virtual series, join the team for a tour of both the current and the new store, before a live demonstration of an object’s journey to its new home! There will also be time for questions at the end.

Over four years, the Stores Move team are inventorying, hazard checking, digitising, repacking and transporting thousands of archaeological and ethnographic objects from the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, making them more accessible than ever before. The CMC’s new purpose-built object lab will welcome researchers, students, community groups and others from Cambridge and around the world.
