Computer Laboratory, William Gates Building15 JJ Thomson Avenue, CB3 0FD

For Primary School children: come and meet Captain Jessie Croft. On 'Pirate Island', Captain Jessie has stashed her treasure in a chest secured with several padlocks, each with its own secret code. Use your logical thinking skills (and some BBC micro:bit computers) to decipher the messages and work out the codes that open the locks! Or for children in Secondary School years 7 and 8, test out our Hacker 'escape room'. An evil hacker has created a computer virus that will destroy the internet in less than an hour unless we find a way to stop them! Can you take on challenges like working out the quickest way to the hacker's lair, so you can get there and shut down their computer before the virus program can be run?! These and other hands-on, drop-in activities will be on offer at the Open Day in the Department of Computer Science and Technology.
