Ultra-processed foods (UPF) are a hot topic, with growing calls for tighter regulation. But what do we really know about them? Are they all bad for us, and if so what can we do about it?

The specific mechanisms by which UPF affect health are not fully known, and some sectors of the food industry have challenged how UPF are defined. This, in turn, has created confusion among members of the public, and has hindered potential interventions to limit their consumption.

Join Professor Jean Adams from the MRC Epidemiology Unit, and a panel of experts, as they examine what UPF are and their potential health implications. Panellists will include Cathy Cliff (Soil Association), Dr Yanaina Chavez-Ugalde (MRC Epidemiology Unit), Samuel Dicken (UCL) and Tom Foster-Carter (Cherrypick).

After the discussion, the panel will answer questions from the audience.
