Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry, Lensfield Road, CB2 1EW
Join two hands-on activities, and one video demonstration, at the Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry This event will consists of the following 3 activities: Activity one: pH experiment using cabbage and detergents of a different pH, showing how the cabbage colour is dependent on the pH of the detergent used. Activity two: Automated pH adjustment driven by Machine Learning. Visitors will be able to see how scientists can handle data using Machine Learning techniques to achieve meaningful results. Activity three - Video demonstration: A video on how data is used to aid drug discovery. The video shows scientists in an organic synthesis lab carrying out a synthetic experiment, explaining how the product will undergo further biological assay experiments and how it will aid drug discover
