It’s the holy grail of our age – tackling the mental health crisis in children and young people. Our charity, The William Templeton Foundation for Young People’s Mental Health (YPMH) is committed to revolutionising the current landscape to provide a more positive future.
YPMH is the first charity to link up the social, biological and psychological research on depression and identify a range of solutions. They include taking action in key areas – food and nutrition, sleep, exercise and stress reduction.
Over this weekend, we will empower you with the latest knowledge to make the best choices for your mental health. Do you know what can cause depression? The main risk factors? How eating the right foods can promote good bacteria in your gut to feed your brain and improve your mood and learning ability?
We will give you information to support your well-being with hands on activities, quizzes, competitions and free information packs. You may even want to lobby your school/club to make positive changes!
At YPMH we have a big vision – to tackle depression at every level in children and young people by targeting key points in its development. Our approach is unique because it uses innovation and engineering techniques – a totally new way of examining depression.
By understanding the multiplicity of root causes as well as gaps in the care ecosystem, we have pinpointed opportunities for solutions to aid prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment.
