This exhibition explores the rise of private presses in the late 19th century as a response to the industrialisation of book production. Placing traditional craftsmanship at the heart of their movement, these presses produced finely made editions inspired by medieval manuscripts and the earliest printed books – all displayed together within the magnificent 17th-century Old Library.
