Get hands on with particles. Follow the tracks of itsy-bitsy particles and giant paleo-creatures, they will lead you to a scientific wonderland of science-related quizzes and games, based on “Your adventures at CERN” – a rip-roaring gamebook with a scientific twist.
Here you are the main character: play the role of a researcher, a student or a tourist, and learn about the mysteries of particles and dinosaurs. Find out which particles, scientists and dinosaurs are closer to you with some fun quizzes. Discover what particle detectors and pizzas have in common. Play a board game inspired by CERN particle accelerator, the biggest one in the world. Challenge your friends and family with science-themed paper fortune tellers.
Creative activities for children and families also include colouring sheets and other games taken from the gamebook. Finally, a super cute Russian doll made of paper will bring you deeper and deeper inside matter, up to the quarks.
This event is related to the Cambridge Festival’s talk “What happens when you mix particle physics with a T. rex?” (4 April, in the evening). The gamebook “Your adventures at CERN” is available online on https://amzn.to/3GbBXHI and http://letiziadiamante.com/. You can also purchase a signed copy of the book at the event (cash only).
All activities are subject to change, depending on COVID-related mitigation strategies.
