The Centre for Intercultural Musicology at Churchill College (CIMaCC) and the Bill Brown Creative Workshops curate an exciting programme where leading surgeons share their innovative engagement with music in their surgeries, followed by an experiential session of wellness creatives.

Session 1: 2pm

Research-in-practice talks: Deep brain stimulation: From the surgical to musical theatre, by Professor Keyoumars Ashkan (Professor of Neurosurgery, King’s College Hospital).

Enhancing intraoperative ambience with nature-based bespoke music during cardiothoracic surgery, by Professor Muhammad 'Abid Amir (Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Hospital Al-Sultan Abdullah) and Professor Valerie Ross (Director, CIMaCC).

Session 2: 3:15pm Experiential engagement: Experience a holistic approach to wellbeing, incorporating artistic techniques and psychological support encompassing ecotherapy, walking meditation and creative workshops.

Explore intricate relationships between body and mind movement with music to deepen awareness of sensation, engage mental states, and cultivate a sense of happiness and presence.

This experiential session will be led by Louise Ranger (Wellbeing Coordinator, Churchill College) and Barry Phipps (Director, Bill Brown Creative Workshops).
