Since its inception in 2016, the Milner Therapeutics Institute has been a driving force in connecting academia and business in Cambridge and beyond. With a distinctive model that unites therapeutics research, partnerships and enterprise, the Institute aims to transform pioneering science into life-changing therapies. Over the years, the Milner Institute has incubated and supported dynamic start-ups, including Enhanced Genomics and Epitopea; fostered research and collaborations between global pharmaceutical companies and academics; and built partnerships across the UK and globally, including new innovative partnerships with Flagship Pioneering and Yonsei University, South Korea. Today, it stands as a cornerstone of the Cambridge innovation ecosystem.
At this event, Executive Director Professor Cathy Tralau-Stewart will reflect on how Professor Sir Tony Kouzarides turned a bold vision into reality – launching a completely new and unique department that bridged the gap between academia and industry. Cathy will explore how this innovative model compares with those of other translational research institutes around the world, highlighting what makes the Institute distinct in its approach and impact. She will also chart the Institute’s journey to date, celebrate key milestones, and share her perspective on how the Institute will continue to drive discovery and innovation in the life sciences.
