MBU Challenge

10:00am-4:00pm on Sunday 4 April

Times shown are in GMT (UTC +0) up to the 27th March. For events on or after 28th March times are in BST (UTC +1).

You’re a lab of scientists in the MBU, trying to work on your latest research and publish it in a journal! But, science can’t be done alone, so you’ll need to work as a team to collaborate with other laboratories in the Unit. You’ll have certain questions you need to answer to be able to publish your paper!

Players (at different levels) will take on the roles of scientists and work their way around the MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit (MBU), working both collaboratively and alone, to complete tasks associated with the Unit's science. Examples include:

Level 1: collecting and assembling pieces of a puzzle depicting a mitochondrion.

Level 2: completing scientific puzzles, such as word searches and mazes.

Level 3: collecting information about a mysterious "Protein X" that features in our set problem.

We are developing this challenge as a board game that can be played both physically (at events) and electronically.
