Institute for Manufacturing, 17 Charles Babbage Road, CB3 0FS

If you look around where you are now, everything that you can see – unless it is a plant, a rock, a person or some other animal – has been manufactured. There is a whole, largely invisible, system spanning the globe that makes and delivers all of the products that we need or want. But the way this amazing system works is changing – mostly for the better, but sometimes in ways that are less good for us and our planet. In this talk, we will look at some of the amazing ways in which things that we need for our future lives will be made – locally, globally… and even off-planet!
