Introducing artscaping: Creative adventuring for children’s wellbeing

4:00pm-5:00pm on Tuesday 30 March

Times shown are in GMT (UTC +0) up to the 27th March. For events on or after 28th March times are in BST (UTC +1).

Explore the artscaping practice of Cambridge Curiosity and Imagination (CCI), an arts and well-being charity whose work brings together those with a shared passion for how the arts and nature can transform lives, and a belief in the power of community activism. Led by Dr Nicola Walshe, Anglia Ruskin University, you get the opportunity to experience CCI’s collaborative approach to working with children, committed to deep listening, creative adventuring, and artistic co-creation. Teachers and trainee teachers share their experiences of learning the practice of artscaping, reflecting in particular on the impact on children’s wellbeing, as well as the challenges of developing such practice.

Dr Nicola Walshe is Head of School of Education and Social Care at ARU. Previously she taught and worked as Head of Geography in three secondary schools in the UK before going on to teach and lead the Geography PGCE course at University of Cambridge. Nicola is co-convenor of the Environmental and Sustainability Education Research (ESER) network in the European Educational Research Association (EERA) and Secretary of GEReCo (Geography Education Research Collective). Her research interests include environmental and sustainability education, pedagogies at the intersection of nature, the arts and wellbeing, and curriculum and pedagogy within teacher education more broadly.

Ruth Sapsed is Director of the charity Cambridge Curiosity and Imagination (CCI).
