10:30am-3:30pm on Saturday 21 March
Computer Laboratory, William Gates Building 15 JJ Thomson Avenue, CB3 0FD
For primary school children:
Captain Jessie Croft’s spaceship is running out of power. To help it get her to her home planet, she needs to turn on the emergency power supply. But the door to the power store is locked by several padlocks, each with its own secret code. Can you use your logical thinking skills (and some micro:bit computers) to work out the codes that open the locks?
For children in secondary school years 7 and 8:
Test out our ‘Hacker escape room’. An evil hacker has created a computer virus that will destroy the internet in less than an hour unless we find a way to stop them! Can you take on challenges like working out the quickest way to the hacker’s lair, so that you can get there and shut down their computer before the virus program can be run?!
These and other drop-in, hands-on activities will be on offer at the Department of Computer Science and Technology Open Day.
