11:00am-4:00pm on Saturday 21 March
Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology, Robinson Way (Close to the Junction of Robinson Way and Long Road), CB2 0SZ
Join the programmes and institutes of the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Centre to get hands-on with our ground-breaking science, as we tell the full story of cancer research that is being undertaken by scientists, clinicians and healthcare professionals across Cambridge.
Together with our fundamental biology researchers, you’ll create funky headbands to show you how proteins are made, and also sculpt your own cell models. Can you break the pipetting code and who will make the best blood soup?
Take part in playground favourites including Hook a Duck, Hopscotch and Pin the Tail on the Donkey, all with a scientific twist to help you understand how cancer develops and is detected. Then try your hand at spotting and diagnosing cancer using real-world techniques.
Test your clinical skills by performing keyhole surgery and delivering radiotherapy treatment in our training simulators, and explore clinical trials in our escape room. You can even unravel the mysteries of wee and find out how cancer can affect digestion.
Discover how Cambridge researchers are developing cutting-edge treatments and new technologies to personalise cancer care, from decoding DNA with artificial intelligence to exploring tumours in virtual reality. Meet our patient partners who are shaping cancer research to make it equitable for everyone, and learn how the new Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital will change the story of cancer for all.
Our interactive exhibits include hands-on experiments, engaging demonstrations, and fun activities for children and adults of all ages!
