Geraldine the Elephant and the science of foam

10:00am-2:00pm on Saturday 21 March

Times shown are in GMT (UTC +0) up to the 26th March. For events on or after 27th March times are in BST (UTC +1).

Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, Philippa Fawcett Drive, CB3 0AS

Meet Geraldine the Elephant, our larger-than-life lab mascot, and join her on a playful science adventure. Guided by researchers, visitors will move through a series of short experiments that explore the chemistry of reactions, including the famous elephant toothpaste experiment from previous years. Each small group will follow Geraldine’s story while mixing, observing and learning how simple ingredients can create spectacular foaming results. Everyone will leave with a small take-home memento and a new appreciation for the fun side of chemistry.

Please note that at busy times, visitors may need to wait for the activity, and we reserve the right to pause entry temporarily if maximum room capacity is reached.
