Curator’s tour

2:00pm-3:00pm on Thursday 26 March

Times shown are in GMT (UTC +0) up to the 26th March. For events on or after 27th March times are in BST (UTC +1).

Museum of Classical Archaeology, Sidgwick Avenue, CB3 9DA

The Museum of Classical Archaeology is home to more than 450 plaster casts of ancient Greek and Roman sculpture. But why do we have a collection of copies or ‘fakes’? Join Curator Dr Susanne Turner on this tour of the Museum of Classical Archaeology’s Cast Gallery. The Museum houses a rather unusual collection: instead of original statues, the Cast Gallery is packed with more than 450 historical plaster casts of Greek and Roman sculptures – and find out how thinking about replication might impact how we look at the ancient world.
