Computer science: The film show

10:30am-4:00pm on Saturday 21 March

Times shown are in GMT (UTC +0) up to the 26th March. For events on or after 27th March times are in BST (UTC +1).

Computer Laboratory, William Gates Building 15 JJ Thomson Avenue, CB3 0FD

This event is part of the Department of Computer Science and Technology Open Day, during which visitors will have the opportunity to try out some computer science challenges, watch demos, tour the Department and take on our computer science ‘escape rooms’.

In our film show, a series of short films highlighting the Group Design Projects our undergraduates have carried out this year will be played on a loop throughout the day, so visitors can just drop in any time. One team came up with an app to help crime investigators and legal professionals practise their interview question skills. Another team worked on a ‘Zeitgeist Map’ – a web-based world map that can visually display how popular different music trends are in certain countries. And in a project for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, the students worked on their app to help encourage children with cleft palate to practise their speech and improve their pronunciation of words.

No need to book - you're welcome just to drop in.
