This event will showcase the University of Cambridge and the Bennett School of Public Policy’s leading research, teaching and real-world impact in AI and digital policy, examining digital transformation beyond market cycles, and asking what institutional capabilities require/endure beyond hype and unrealistic expectations.
Featuring keynote speaker—Prof Diane Coyle, Research Director at the Bennett School of Public Policy—and a panel of fellow Cambridge experts—Dr Jeni Tennison, Director of Connected by Data, and Dr Kathryn Chapman, Executive Director of Innovate Cambridge—the discussion will dissect the gap between AI promise and delivery, explore how AI and digital technologies can drive inclusive, sustainable growth, and examine how research and policy interact across local, national and global levels.
Our guest speakers will highlight current Cambridge initiatives – from the AI & Geopolitics Project to the new MPhil in Digital Policy – and discuss key challenges such as inequality, responsible AI and governance.
The discussion will focus on how technological changes are reshaping governance structures to meet societal needs and state ambitions, linking Cambridge’s research excellence with real-world policy challenges.
This event aims to strengthen collaboration and share best practices that connect academic insight with real-world policymaking and societal impact.
