Lecture Theatre Room 4, Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, West Cambridge Site, Philippa Fawcett Drive, CB3 0AS
[NOTE: The main activity will take place in Singapore. This will be livestreamed to the Department in Cambridge. A former CARES researcher will be present in Cambridge to answer questions at the end of the event. All other attendees who cannot join in Singapore or the livestream in Cambridge can choose to watch online.]
CARES (the Cambridge Centre for Advanced Research and Education) is the University of Cambridge’s first overseas research centre, established in 2013. Our flagship programme on decarbonisation kick-started our journey of bringing Cambridge and Singaporean researchers together to investigate areas such as chemical reactions, combustion, low-carbon fuels, and maritime decarbonisation.
Although CARES has since expanded into other research areas like lifelong learning and health sciences, this event will focus on our carbon reduction research.
The hybrid session will introduce CARES and explain why Cambridge has a base in Singapore. This will be followed by an online lab tour, providing the public with a look into our labs for the very first time! Our combustion researchers have even prepared a short flame experiment. Following the tour, there will be a panel discussion featuring our researchers, who will share their career journeys and current work in the areas of low-carbon fuels such as hydrogen and ammonia, and investigating alternative routes for chemical reactions without petrochemicals.
