Diagnosing diseases accurately is crucial for effective treatment, but it's a major challenge, particularly in low-resource settings where access to medical infrastructure can be limited. Bioengineers at the University of Cambridge are developing groundbreaking technologies to tackle this problem, creating more accessible, affordable diagnostic solutions. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll explore these cutting-edge innovations firsthand, learning how they work and their potential to revolutionize healthcare. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to conduct your own experiment in the lab, gaining practical insight into the tools and techniques that are shaping the future of diagnostics. Don't miss out on this exciting chance to discover how science and engineering are transforming healthcare!

This workshop is designed for non-biologists, so we kindly ask those with a background in the field to allow others the chance to experience the workshop.

The workshop is hosted by the Engineering Biology Interdisciplinary Research Centre (EngBio IRC) and the Cambridge University Synthetic Biology Society (CU SynBioSoc). The EngBio IRC is a hub for research at the intersection of biology, engineering, computer science, design and Bioethics at the University of Cambridge (link). The CU SynBioSoc is a student society bringing together students from different disciplines to learn about bioengineering and gain experience through student-led projects.
