9:00am-5:00pm daily from Monday 29 March until Wednesday 31 March

Times shown are in GMT (UTC +0) up to the 27th March. For events on or after 28th March times are in BST (UTC +1).

The British Economy after Brexit is an interactive digital event designed for Year 12 and Year 13 A-Level (and equivalent) students of Economics and the social sciences.

The British Economy after Brexit will be built on:
·         Professor Tony Cockerill’s on-line streamed one-hour presentation on the British economy.
·         Interactive Zoom-based live webinars for School Teams.

Schools taking part will be invited to nominate teams of five students each to be part of a webinar of not more than six teams.  The number of webinars offered will depend mainly on the number of schools taking part, but is unlikely to exceed four.

Professor Cockerill’s presentation will cover:

·         The behaviour and performance of the British economy before and during the Covid-19 pandemic.
·         Appraisal of the economic and financial measures to confront the pandemic.
·         Assessment of the outcome of the Brexit negotiations at the end of the transition period (31 December 2020).
·         Prospects for the economy.

Each webinar will be hosted by Professor Cockerill.  Guest panellists for the discussions will include economists with Cambridge connections; current and former students; and Economics staff members from participating schools.
Team members will be encouraged to give audio responses to questions set in the presentation, to contribute to a monitored Q&A session, and to take part in the quiz.
The foundation for this initiative in terms of teaching, learning and examination is Applied Macroeconomics.
