5:30pm-8:00pm on Thursday 26 March
Whipple Museum of the History of Science, Free School Lane, CB2 3RH
Join us for a special late opening celebrating the launch of The Auzoux Project at the Whipple Museum. Over six months, artist Anna Brownsted and our Whipple Scribble community have transformed the Victorian Parlour, inspired by Dr Louis Auzoux’s intricate papier-mâché models. Explore the installation, enjoy the Museum after-hours, and sip a glass of wine.
As a highlight, join a Whipple Scribble speedy sketching session with Auzoux’s teaching models, brought out from the Whipple’s stores for one night only!
Programme:
6.00pm – In conversation with Anna Brownsted
Anna shares insights into The Auzoux Project, the workshops, and the creation of the installation.
7.00pm & 7.30pm – Whipple Scribble: Speed Sketching Sessions (Learning Gallery)
Timed 5-minute sketching rounds with up to 15 participants per session. Draw an eclectic mix of models—from horse fetlocks and human anatomy to pea plants, acorns, silkworms, and an oversized cockchafer beetle. Each session begins with a brief introduction to Auzoux’s teaching models by Annie James, followed by open sketching.
Free sketching in other galleries is welcome throughout the evening.
