Come along to find out – and give it a go for yourself – at our workshop on Art and Social Challenges, to be held as part of the Cambridge Festival.
The workshop is organised by The University of Cambridge, The Open University and King’s College London, and facilitated by artist and practitioner Joanna Mamede of the Face in the Hole art collective. Participants will find out about the many ways that art has been used to bridge the gap when words won’t suffice. They will learn some of the practical skills needed when using art to address serious social issues before having the opportunity to apply these skills to their own work on a topic of their choice.
Participants’ final works will be displayed with the ‘Art for a Better World’ exhibition at the Alison Richard Building, University of Cambridge, from 25 March – 11 April 2025.
Workshop participants will also have priority access to the exhibition’s public reception event on Friday 28 March from 17:00 – 19:00.
This workshop is aimed at anyone aged 16+ who is interested in harnessing the medium of art to convey big ideas. No previous experience is required, only enthusiasm to engage with the possibilities.
All artistic materials and lunch will be provided free for workshop participants.
